Neopian Times Guide Refresh
We've modernized our various guides on aspects of the Neopian Times to reflect the current state of the Times, such as how to participate in collaborative issues, the cadence of the publication schedule, and tips for getting your work published by the current editor. We've also united our guides into one central hub!

Festival of Neggs Coverage


The Festival of Neggs 2025 took place from April 10th through 19th. We kept our guide updated each day with the location of the hidden neggs, as well as summarizing the final prizes (which you can still claim, if you haven't yet)!


Similarly, we have all the details on the Festival's Neocash component, Dip & Dye Neggs, which will remain available through May 10th:

April Fools
We've added a recap of the April Fools shenanigans on Neopets.com, which saw the return of the Sceptic Tank originally featured in the 2023 April Fools prank, as well as some apropos banner ad parodies and a brand new avatar. You can read our full summary of it all here:



We also had a little fun for our own April Fool's prank, time-traveling our homepage by randomly displaying seasonal holiday news posts and site themes from the past year!

Jellyneo Dark Mode Site Themes + "Pirates & Scallywags" Site Theme
Speaking of site themes! We are in the process of putting the finishing touches on universal dark mode for all site themes here at Jellyneo. Currently, if your browser settings are set to use dark mode, that preference will be respected by our theme and turn JN into a darker version. We're still working on tweaking the themes along with testing it across departments, as well as adding a dark mode toggle regardless of your browser preference.

Also, enjoy our brand new "Pirates & Scallywags" theme! This will be our seasonal theme for "Talk Like a Pirate Day" on September 19th, but you can also opt in to use it year round. To change your site theme, scroll to the very bottom of any page here at JN and look for the "Your Site Theme" section in the footer. Your preference is saved to your device and sticks across most of JN.

Tales of Dacardia


Our Tales of Dacardia guide has continued to expand in the last month.

We've got a guide up for the Festival of Neggs event. The event's Donation Drive just wrapped up last weekend, but the daily login calendar will remain available through May 9th. We also have relevant event-related updates to our Resources listing and Premium Parlour guide.


We've also overhauled our Wheel of Prizes guide with the latest changes, which includes a couple new slots as well as expanded opportunities for prizes on Neopets.com!

Faerie Fragments
The beleaguered Faerie Fragments mobile app received some much-needed stability improvements last month, allowing us to continue to enhance our guide.

First up, we have an event guide for the current seasonal event, the Enchanted Egg Hunt. This event continues with the same general format of previous events, while also adding a new activity: the Hatchery!


TNT is currently running a "Hatchery Challenge" promotion to reward the community with Neopets.com prizes for participating in the Hatchery. You can find out more on the details of this in our news post.

We've also continued to develop more guides in our hub for what we are calling "Bonus Activities": the various minigames and features the app offers to earn (or buy) in-game rewards.

New Position at Jellyneo: Mobile Game Guide Updater
For arguably the first time ever, Neopets mobile apps have been getting regular updates. And as you may be able to tell from these monthly posts, it has already been a lot for our regular content crew to keep up with. We're seeking new volunteer team members who are interested in helping maintain our Tales of Dacardia and Faerie Fragments guides, as well as any other future mobile apps. If this sounds of interest to you, check out our Volunteer page for how to apply:

Some site features are perennially updated by TNT, and so our articles about them are too!

• Editorial Database: Updated with the 16 Editorial questions answered last month.

TNT has updated a new edition of Release Notes with a summary of various bugs that have been squashed and new additions made over the past month.

Here's what's notable:

Premium Perk: New Premium Random Events

We have added 5 random events for premium subscribers that offer a variety of prizes and NP!

We've received a few scattered reports on this—if you have received one of the new Premium random events, please post the exact text and what you received in the comments, or by writing in!

It seems that the NP awards being given out have received a boost to give more NP, and one of the new events gives out map pieces.

Daily Ad Rewards

Non-Premium folks can get a couple thousand NP per day now, as we reported earlier, for watching an ad on the homepage.

Site Lag
TNT has addressed the recent lag, which does seem to have cleared up a bit after some changes they made:

Site speed decreased overall around mid-April. We have turned this around as far as a couple specific sources we uncovered with data storage. We continue to focus on some tasks related to keeping that data flowing more smoothly!

Premium Perk: Space Faerie Challenger

The Space Faerie became available as a permanent Battledome Challenger for Premium Subscribers.

As of today, the Space Faerie is now available as a challenger to all Premium members, regardless of her being unlocked prior. (In other words, you no longer need to redeem a Rare Item Code to find her in the Battledome if you're a Premium subscriber.)

Wearable Fixes

TNT has been quite busy making fixes to both colour combos and wearables in the HTML5 views! We've been tracking dozens of items fixed here in our Wardrobe, and TNT has listed most of them in this update. (There are more not listed.)

There are now under 2,000 wearables needing to be converted to HTML5—less than 8% of the currently 24,995 wearables available.

UPDATE, APRIL 21: It's not just you! This same issue has returned quite strongly this morning, unfortunately.

UPDATE: TNT have announced there will be downtime on the site between 2AM and 4AM on Wednesday 16th.

Over the last few weeks you may have noticed that, particularly in the mornings, Neopets.com has been fairly laggy. Well, last night into this morning, things have gotten progressively worse. Now, the site is lagging so badly that sustained play is proving impossible for many users - it isn't just you!


Many users are now encountering pages either not loading, edgesuite errors, or the following error on pages:

Error: Having trouble retrieving results Please reload the page

TNT is aware of the issue and looking into solutions. Last night, the Quest Log was taken down for around an hour to try and mitigate the issue, but when it returned the lag continued. We'll keep you updated if there are any other developments.

As a note, when periods of lag like this impact the main site, Tales of Dacardia rewards often fail to arrive in your Neopets.com account. This is temporary, and the rewards should come through when things improve.

Today marks the beginning of the Festival of Neggs- the best time of the year. With it comes a brand new battledome item courtesy of one Hanso.


While it doesn't come close to matching his charisma charm; it is always nice to get another battledome item even if it isn't anything too worthy.


Either way, collect one by getting lucky opening a Fortune Negg during the festival, and don't forget to check out our guide for more information and answers if you need help finding each day's negg.

Varwolf Updates
Welcome to the 56th Neopets species, the Varwolf! We've made a number of updates around Jellyneo accordingly. You can now view Varwolves at our Rainbow Pool listing at the Wardrobe, and learn more about them in our Book of Ages guide:


We've also made several minor tweaks around the site:

• We've added info about creating them to our Premium Perks and Limited and Restricted Neopets guides.
• We've added them as a species exclusion on our Lab Ray and Pound Transfer guides.
• You can select them at our Petpet Matcher tool in the Item Database.
• You can select them as your jnAccount avatar, which is visible when you comment on our news posts.
• You can select them as a species filter at the Book of Ages (though TNT has made no characters yet!) and our Battlepedia Advanced Search (though TNT have made no exclusive weapons yet!)

tsun scoops and Yifang Tea NorCal Guides
We've added recaps of two recent Neopets merch partnerships: tsun scoops and Yifang Tea NorCal! These brand activations took place at the end of 2024 as part of the 25th anniversary celebrations. Check them out for all the details, including some fun pictures!


If you're hoping for another opportunity to enjoy a Neopets-themed chilled treat, you're in luck! Neopets recently announced a partnership with It's Boba Time "transforming 100 locations across the US into Neopia, featuring themed decor and exclusive giveaways" this coming May 2025!

Tales of Dacardia

Our Tales of Dacardia guide has continued to expand in the last month.

To kick it off, we have a fresh guide on the Premium Parlour! Find out about all of the current and previous items and Neopets available for sale as in-app purchases.


We've also got a guide up for the Spring Celebration event currently ongoing through April 8th.


We've also gone back and retroactively filled our Tales of Dacardia Events hub with guides for all of the past events. Will you find them useful? Probably not! But will you find them interesting? Maybe! Here they are:


Finally, we've updated our Buddy Bulletin Board guide with the new types of tasks introduced in the last update, and Wheel of Prizes guide with the latest batch of prizes (which according to the in-app announcements will be rotating out later this week)!

Faerie Fragments
Unfortunately, the beleaguered Faerie Fragments mobile app has been effectively unplayable for most people since last weekend, but we've continued to enhance our guide.

First up, we have an event guide for the current seasonal event, Tia's Seasonal Exchange, which you likely won't be able to participate in with the app's current broken state. This event is the first to offer a prize on Neopets.com!


We've also added listings of the basic details of all levels (which the game currently won't let you complete).


Similarly, we've added a Story hub with a rundown of all the tasks involved in both the Main and Side stories. If you already have Wocky Jelly or Jam, you may still be able to progress the story while the app is broken, you just might not be able to earn more!


Finally, we've launched a hub for what we are calling "Bonus Activities": the various minigames and features the app offers to earn (or buy) in-game rewards. Some of these don't require level progression, so you can stock up on rewards even while the gameplay is defective! We've shuffled some existing info into guides here, as well as added a handful of new ones. Look forward to guides for the rest of these activities in the coming weeks.


Hopefully TNT will figure out how to restore this app to a serviceable state soon!
